Alumni News

The Georgia School of Preaching & Biblical Studies is very proud of our students. This is especially true of our alumni. A strong bond exists among our students, both past and present. That bond is evident every time they are together.

Our alumni have distinguished themselves not only through the completion of their GSOP course work, but also in their walk with God, and their devotion to family, community, and especially The Lord’s church.

This corner of our website is dedicated to them.

A GSOP Alumni Association is now in place. Each year, at our annual Bible Lectureship and Commencement, the Alumni Association presents its Outstanding Faculty Award. If you are a GSOP alumnus, please contact the Marietta Campus Office at 770-971-9933 to ensure that we have all of your contact information. We genuinely want to include you in our mailouts and other communiques regarding all GSOP and alumni activities.

2020 Alumnus of the Year
Chuck Scarborough

Chuck Scarborough has been the minister at Central Church of Christ in Smyrna for 7 years. He graduated from Freed-Hardeman with a degree in finance and from the Georgia School of Preaching with a Biblical Studies Certificate. Chuck has been on several mission trips including the Ukraine and Jamaica and a couple of places in the United States. He has been married to Heather Scarborough for 22 years and has two daughters, MacKenzie who is a senior and Peyton who is in 8th grade. He is an avid fisherman and an amazing contractor as well.

That is a standard bio of facts about Chuck but that doesn't tell you the whole story... the story behind the legend that is Chuck Scarborough. Let me give you some insight into the man that I love…

Chuck has always been my best friend. I knew after one date that I was going to marry him because of his gentle spirit, his kind and loving heart and his devotion to God and 22 years later, that has not changed. He gives every single day to his family, his friends and his church. He provides for his family in every way possible but most importantly, he provides a spiritual foundation for his family that is incredible. From an early age, we worked together as a team taking our children on mission activities, evangelism activities, visiting nursing homes, the sick and the elderly. This became such a habit for my kids that they would volunteer to be that outreach to others before we could even say anything. This is because my children found such a strong spiritual role model in their dad.

He made me a better wife and mother by encouraging me and providing an atmosphere of love and appreciation. In a world, that is trying to reduce the man's role in the family, I am so grateful that he is the head and the provider that he is and that he takes his role seriously. Our family is better for it... I am better for it.

We always talk about the woman described in Proverbs 31 but a lot of those same attributes can be found in Chuck. He has a strong faith, a love for his wife and children, he serves others with kindness and compassion, he is industrious and not afraid of getting dirty or working with his hands and he is about living life with purpose, diligence, forgiveness, and repentance. And I am immensely blessed that we crossed paths and he chose me to be his wife. I am so thankful that I get to grow old with him and so blessed that we will be in Heaven one day together.

I could go on and on about Chuck but I will leave you with this verse that sums up my incredible husband...Psalm 37:23, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and He delighteth in his way.”
